Lacquer

project overview

a mobile platform that brings inspiration discovery, portfolio browsing, and appointment booking into one seamless experience. The app empowers users to curate their ideal nail aesthetic while helping local nail artists showcase their work and connect with clients who already love their style.

challenge

Design an experience that bridges the gap between inspiration and booking while making it easier for users to:

  • Discover nail artists through visual exploration

  • Organize inspiration without losing saved references

  • Evaluate artists before committing to an appointment

  • Book services with confidence using their saved inspiration

the solution

Lacquer combines inspiration discovery with appointment booking in a single workflow. Rather than treating inspiration and booking as separate tasks, the experience allows users to move naturally from browsing designs to selecting an artist and scheduling an appointment. The interface emphasizes clean visual hierarchy, warm neutral tones, and image-first layouts that allow the artwork itself to remain the primary focus.

Home — Discover Feed

The primary entry point of the app,

presenting a masonry grid of nail art looks

from local artists. Users can toggle between

Discover and My Board, apply style tag filters,

or search by artist or aesthetic. Saves are

accessible directly from the feed to keep the

inspiration-gathering flow frictionless.

Home — Chrome Filter Applied

When a style tag is selected, the feed

refreshes to show only matching content.

The active tag is visually distinguished,

giving users immediate feedback without

navigating away from the main feed.

My Board

The user's personal curation space,

organized into named Collections and a flat

Saved Looks grid. Collections allow

grouping by theme or upcoming

appointment, supporting intentional inspo

organization over time.

Filter Panel

Allows users to refine results by Style,

Nail Shape, Nail Length, and

Technique/Finish. Icon-based nail shape

selectors reduce reliance on text. A live

result count updates with each selection,

and a reset option is paired with the

primary CTA.

Artist Profile

A full view of an artist's identity, credibility,

and work. A hero image sets the salon

context, key stats build trust at a glance, and

a scrollable portfolio lets users evaluate

stylistic range before committing to a booking.

Book Appointment

Consolidates date, time, service type, and

pricing into one scrollable screen. The

"Attach Your Inspo" section is a core

differentiator — users pull directly from their

saved board to communicate their desired

look ahead of the appointment.
